Larry Madowo Named Among Most Influential Africans of 2020
New African Magazine has released a list of the most influential Africans of 2020 and Kenyan Larry Madowo has made it to the list for the second time.
“Read our December issue celebrating icons that shape the destiny of the continent- leaders across art, business, education, health and tech that embody the promise of a sustainable path for Africa,” New African Magazine tweeted.
The list includes other Africans from across different sectors, living in and outside of Africa.
Here is the list of the most influential Africans of 2020, according to the magazine;
Afua Hirsch is a Norwegian-born British writer, broadcaster, entrepreneur and author according to her official Twitter handle. She has worked as the Social Affairs and Education Editor for Sky News for three years from 2014 until 2017. She is currently working as a Guardian Newspaper columnist as well as a creative at some of the major broadcasting companies across the world. Afua was born in Stavanger, Norway to a British father and an Akan mother from Ghana, and was raised in South-West London city of Wimbledon.
Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, rapper and dancer. He rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album and has since continued to impress his fans year in year out. He is also an award winner, for example, 2019 and 2020 BET Award winner for the Best International Act among many other awards.
Sadio Mané is a Senegalese professional footballer who plays as a winger for Premier League club Liverpool and the Senegal national team. He currently holds the record for Premier League’s fastest hat-trick. He is also loved on and off the pitch across the world for his amazing footballing skills as well his humble nature. Mane has bagged a few awards in his name among them African Player of the Year 2020.
Larry Madowois a Kenyan who currently works as a journalist for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) World News and is based in New York as the North America Correspondent in Washington, DC. He has won several awards on his name and this is the second time he has been named among Africa’s most influential people for the second time now.
Elon Musk is a South African born tech guru mostly known for his multi-billion Tesla Inc. company. He has founded and runs a range of companies and corporates across the world. Elon is currently among the richest people in the world with a net worth of about 134.7 billion USD (2020), according to Forbes Magazine.
Others on the list include; Aisha Yesufu from Nigeria, John Boyega- a London born with Nigerian roots, Ghanian Michaela Coel, Zimbabwean businessman, Strive Masiyiwa, Ivorian BankerTidjane Thiam, Ugandan climate justice activist, Vanessa Nakate, Vera Songwe- an Economist and Banking executive from Cameroon and William Kentridge, an artist from South Africa among many others.
