Edith Kimani is a Kenyan media personality and journalist who has worked in the biggest media houses in Kenya. Currently, she works at Deutsche Welle (DW), a German international broadcasting service, where she’s as a news anchor and reporter.
Edith was previously the East African Correspondent, for the same media house where she hosted the Eco@Africa show. The beauty is currently hosting a youth show called The 77 Percent.
Early Life and Education
Kimani comes from a well-to-do family. She was born and bred in Kinoo, Kiambu. She attended Forest View Academy (Karen) for her primary school before moving to Westlands Primary School.
Her high school education was at State House Girls School where she was an active drama club member. This came through for her when she was offered a scholarship to join Hillcrest International School where she sat her KCSE.
United States International University is her alma mater where she studied International relations.
Media Career
Her media journey started almost immediately when at the tender age of 19, she participated in a talent search show for aspiring journalists called The Presenter on KTN.
As cameras lit her up and thousands of fans sat at home watching the live telecast finale that Sunday evening, 20-year-old Edith Kimani waited with bated breath. She was the lucky winner and landed a job as a reporter and anchor at the TV station owned by Standard Media Group.
She worked there for seven years at the Mombasa Road-based media house. In her 6-year career at the Standard Group, she covered major Kenysn events such as the 2010 referendum, the 2013 presidential elections, the Westgate terror attack in 2013, and the ICC trials against Kenya’s top leadership. She is a CNN Journalism Fellow.
In 2019, she resigned to become an East African Correspondent at the renowned German station. Soon after, Edith was quickly promoted to become a news anchor and a host of a youth show called The 77 Percent.
