Fired for Celebrating Charlie Kirk’s Death

On September 10th, Charlie Kirk, the influential conservative activist, politician, and cofounder of Turning Point USA, died after being shot in the neck during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.

According to reports, the shooter fired from a nearby rooftop, hitting his upper neck in a horrific video that went viral online. After being rushed to Timpanogos Regional Hospital in critical condition, Kirk was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

A suspect by the name Tyler Robinson, 22, has been arrested and is in custody in relation to the shooting.

The 31-year-old was an ardent supporter of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement and played a big role in President Trump’s reelection in 2024. With that, he made as many enemies as he made friends and admirers due to his strong beliefs and opinions.

After his death, many flocked to social media to mourn him as someone who stood by his convictions and did everything possible to reach as many people as he could through open debates and discussions, mostly at colleges and universities.

Trump’s Tribute

For example, President Trump said, “Charlie was a patriot who devoted his life to the course of open debate and the country that he loved so much. The United States of America. He fought for liberty, democracy, justice, and the American people.”

While most people mourned the sudden demise of Charlie, a section celebrated it by openly posting on social media. This has angered many who saw it as outright inhuman behaviour and even called for them to be fired from their jobs.

So far, teachers across America have found themselves facing swift terminations or potential discipline after sharing opinions on social media about the killing of Charlie Kirk.

An X user by the username @lisakippy has compiled a spreadsheet of those fired so far, with others pending terminations. According to the list, below are the people who have lost their jobs for posting vile things about Charlie Kirk’s death.

  1. Beth Ayers – Data Analyst at Tesla
  2. Giovanna Bonanno – Restaurant Worker at Trattoria Reggiano NY Pizzeria
  3. Kelly Brock-Sanchez – Teacher at Ridgeway Elementary
  4. Mark Sivek – Real Estate Agent at Signature Real Estate Group
  5. Dana Truong – Patient Support at NYU Langone

Elon Musk even shared the post from Lisa, adding that “they (teachers) are the ones poisoning the minds of our children.”

The list contains 66 people in total. The pressure continues to mount on their employers to sack those seen to be celebrating Kirk’s death.
