Lawyer Nelson Havi has ordered Defence CS, Murkomen to release the three abductees immediately if he still wants to keep his job.
In a post on X, the city lawyer urged the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary to act with haste if he still wants to be referred with the title.
Murkomen was recently appointed the Defence CS after the recent cabinet reshuffles that saw some movements in the cabinet.
In less than a week in office, abductions have marred his doctorate sparking nationwide outrage. Some of the people abducted just in December 2024 are Bill Mwangi, Benard Kavuli, Peter Muteti, and Kibet Bull among others.
Despite the National Police Service denying its involvement in the abductions, the pressure continues to mount on government bodies and CS Murkomen was no exception.
“CS Kipchumba Murkomen, you know Dr Gibbon Kamau Kuria SC, Hon Paul Muite SC, Ahmednasir Abdullahi SC and I can sign a statement on this matter of abductions and bring your legal and political career to an abrupt end,” Havi wrote.
CS Murkomen has yet to respond or issue a statement on the ongoing abductions.
Selective Justice
In another statement, Lawyer Nelson Havi accused the Kenyan parliamentarians of applying selective justice.
He questioned how they were able to prosecute and impeach Rigathi Gachagua but would not take any steps to punish the perpetrators of abductions.
Nelson Havi joins a series of others who had called out the abductions and ordered the release of the victims.
“The abductions of innocent Kenyans from the streets by security organs is totally unacceptable. Not in Kenya! We are a constitutional democracy,” Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi wrote.
CS Murkomen has now served in three different ministries. First in Roads and Transport, Sport, and now in defense.
Kenyans will be looking forward to his competency, especially in managing the politics of this country under the rule of law and constitutionalism.
