Former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has torn down his former club after a resounding victory over his former employer and teammates on the eve of game week 8.
“Everyone thinks it’s a step down going from Arsenal to Villa, but I think it’s a step up in my career,” Martinez said, on his move to Aston Villa (Via Sky Sports).
Emiliano moved from Arsenal to Villa in the summer transfer of last season after Arsenal signed Alex Runarsson from Ligue 1 side, Dijon FC. After German’s Benard Leno, Runarsson is now their second choice in the sticks.
A brace from Oliver Watkins and a goal from Trezeguet secured Aston Villa 3 important points. English midfielder, Jack Grealish put in a nice show as he registered his 4th assist of the season.
Aston Villa’s comfortable win against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium places them at number 6 with 15 points having played 7 games while Arsenal drops to position 11 with 12 points after playing 8 games.
Arsenal has won 4 games and lost the same number of games this season. On the other hand, Villa has won 5, lost 2, and has a game in hand against Manchester United.
The EPL will be going into an international break and the league will resume for game week 9 on Saturday 21st November.
