Former secular singer, Linet Munyali, aka Size 8, has today put it on public record that she’s getting a divorce. She is married to Samuel Muraya alias DJ Mo, who is a gospel music deejay.
In an Instagram story, the mother of two shared the news with her fans:
“Sometimes marriage works by God’s grace, and sometimes it does not, but all in all, God is still on the throne!!!”
“I’ve been married for 11 years, and now I start the journey of singlehood. But God is still on the throne; I worship you, Yahweh.”
Size 8 Career and Early Life
Her musical journey as an artist started at Calif Records, gaining popularity with her hit singles such as “Shamba Boy” and “Vidonge.” In 2013, Size 8 transitioned to gospel music where she addresses themes of hope, faith, and personal experiences. She has hosted several TV shows and appeared in commercials making her a name for herself.
Size 8, 37, was ordained as a pastor and got certification to lead worship in houses of God. She went ahead to open her church and has been preaching the gospel ever since.
Size 8 and DJ Mo have two children together. Their third baby suffered birth injury complications and did not make it. DJ Mo revealed they would have been parents to 4 kids but lost two. They started dating and got married in September 2013 after meeting in the entertainment industry. They introduced each other to their families and the rest is history.
There is Trouble In Paradise
Their marriage has been marred with controversies ever since they went public. DJ Mo has been caught up in several scandals involving other women, allegations he has always distanced himself from. The damage had already been done and tarnished their brand it did. Even though he has always denied any wrongdoing, the stain has been hard to wash off leading to public humiliation and depression on Linet’s part.
The couple has repeatedly admitted that their marriage is rocky. DJ Mo previously talked about how Size 8 left their matrimonial home for 2 months, but later changed her mind and returned.
In March this year, the singer revealed that she had reached a point where she wanted to contact a divorce lawyer to dissolve her marriage. She contemplated on the idea but she never pursued the plan to the end. According to the singer-turned-preacher, she talked to DJ Mo’s mum, her mother-in-law, who asked her to postpone her decision until she calmed down as she was rushing and clouded in anger. She also wanted full custody of her kids as she couldn’t figure out any other way out. Size 8 revealed all this on their TV show ‘Love in the Wild’.
Mixed Feelings After Size 8 Dumps DJ Mo
Her recent posts and sermons have been accompanied by a mix of sadness and hope, reflecting the complex emotions she is currently experiencing during this transition period.
The divorce announcement has come as a shock to many Kenyans and fans in other countries, who have been following her journey as a devoted wife, mother, and both gospel and secular artist.
The two have not offered a joint statement concerning the divorce settlement. Any attempts to contact Size 8 and DJ Mo have been unsuccessful.
