Trump Defies Polls to Become The 47th USA President

Former USA President Donald Trump has just defeated the incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris in the just concluded general elections. 

Trump’s return to the White House, is seen as a historic moment for American democracy. The Republican candidate won the vote with over 290 electoral votes and 71 million general votes.

His closest contender Kamala Harris has already conceded defeat. The Democrat candidate and former Vice President has today called the president-elect to offer her congratulations. Harris delivered her statement, at 4 p.m. ET, at Howard University.

Overcoming Odds

Trump’s comeback is seen as historic given the insurmountable odds he had to overcome to conquer back the seat. From being the nation’s highest office holder to losing the 2020 election, failed attempt to overturn the results, facing two presidential impeachments, a criminal conviction, and surviving an assassination attack.

“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president,” Trump thanked his cheering supporters 

He faced a hard time even from his former kitchen cabinet with among them his former Vice President Mike Pence and John Kelly, Trump’s longest-serving chief of staff. The two neither endorsed him nor did not speak positively about his return to run the government.

Trump will be the first former president to return to power since Grover Cleveland in 1892. He is the first person convicted of a felony to be elected president and, at 78, is the oldest person elected to the office. His vice president, 40-year-old Ohio Sen.

Congratulatory Messages Flock In

Leaders from around the world have started coming to terms with reality on the ground. The mood is slowly shifting and the second term for the businessman-turned-politician is setting in.

Foreign leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and French President Emmanuel Macron, have already made the phone call.

Leaders of corporations like Google (Pishai), Meta (Zuckerberg), and Amazon (Bezos) have taken to X to offer their statements and promise to work with his administration.
