Political activist Morara Kebaso was arrested at his Kahawa Sukari offices on Monday 09/30/2024 under unclear circumstances, with officers claiming to be following “orders from above”.
During the swift arrest, his electronic devices including phones and laptops were seized.
His lawyer, Pareno Solonka, stated that Kebaso had been held incommunicado since his arrest.
Kebaso’s Bone of Contention
Morara has been actively touring the country to expose stalled government projects. He believes this is a result of widespread corruption in the country.
Kebaso’s criticism of President William Ruto has put him at loggerheads with government apologists and Ruto’s henchmen.
After the failed “Gen Z” branded demonstrations against the administration, Kebaso took matters into his own hands and started his people-funded movement on X.
The professional lawyer emphasized the paramour of his work in holding the government accountable. This is after people asked him to tread carefully fearing for his life and that of his young family. He stated that he is not concerned about his safety because it would undermine his efforts and cloud his judgment.
Morara Kebaso Charge Sheet
Kebaso was taken to the Regional Police Headquarters in Nairobi. Reports followed that he was being transferred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Kiambu.
Morara was presented to Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday 01/10/2024. According to the charge sheet brought before the court, he is being charged with “Cyber Harassment contrary to Section 27 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act of 5 of 2018”.
It’s alleged that the alleged offense was committed on September 28th, 2024. In a statement seen by ONPoint News, Morara allegedly posted offensive content aimed at a person named David Lagat and President William Ruto.
“William Ruto approached David Langat and told him he desperately needs more money for campaign. DL Langat used his properties as security and took big loans to help his friend.”
“Right now DL Langat is being auctioned by banks and the person who is buying the properties is William Ruto. To make it worse William Ruto has used his power to undervalue the properties to buy them at a cheaper price. That is the kind of person we are dealing with. He has no friend”.
According to the charge sheet, it is David Langat who is suing courtesy of DL LTD. Witnesses therein include :

- Digital Forensic Expert- CAK
- C.I Nickson Kinyua
- Others (to be stated).
The charges against Kebaso come hardly a day after he was arrested by unknown people believed to be detectives. He was reportedly ambushed at his offices located at Kahawa Sukari in Nairobi.
Solonka also stated that officers at the gate had received explicit instructions from higher authorities not to allow any lawyers or media personnel to see the activist.
‘’The question is what type of police do we have here? They have no respect for the constitution, they have no respect for the rule of the law. The head is rotten from the Minister of Interior including all the officers that we have here holding Morara and we should condemn it in the strongest way possible.” He quipped.
