Nigerian superstar and afrobeat singer, David Adeleke aka Davido, has traditionally married his long-term partner and mother of his children, Chioma Rowland. The traditional star-studded wedding ceremony was held on Tuesday at Habour Point Centre, Lagos State.
The couple dripped in matching burgundy outfits. The groomsmen and bridal train were elegantly dressed in yellow. The couple later changed into a regal white Igbo outfit.
The historic event was graced by high-profile politicians, businessmen, and celebrities from the entertainment industry, including fellow musicians, actors, and socialites.
Among them, the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, who is an uncle to Davido, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, and the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, among other dignitaries. Other top celebrities include Don Jazzy, P-square, Iyanya, Perruzzi, Ini Edo, Ruth Kadiri, and Lilian Esoro among others.
There were music performances by King Sunny Ade, Olamide, Chike, Fireboy, Mayorkun, Zlatan, Nasboi, Dremo, and Kcee.
The Unavailable-hit singer thanked his in-laws for entrusting him with their daughter. He vowed to make them proud and honor their trust in him.
“It is a lifetime assurance. Your daughter will be protected, respected, and connected. Mummy and Daddy, I love you, I am happy on this day, and this is the happiest day of my life”, Davido declared.
On Sunday, the 30 BG label boss posted their pre-wedding photos on his social media platforms. The trending photos with hashtag #Chivido2024, set the tone for one of the highlights of Nigeria’s entertainment this year.
Davido and Chioma Years of Friendship
The two started dating way back in but made their relationship official in 2018 at a function. Chioma, who is a professional chef, has been featured in several music videos by the singer. There were many rumors of breakups over the years following sagas of baby mamas but the introduction hit social media in September 2019. They welcomed a boy who they named Ifeanyi months later. They, however, in November 2022, lost Ifeanyi following a home accident just as he turned three.
In October 2023, after Davido was Grammy-nominated, there were speculations of Chioma being pregnant again and she welcomed a set of twins. This came as a relief to the couple as a video of them stepping out of hospital with their babies quickly went viral.
The wedding comes as a crowning moment for all their trouble and efforts to remain together over the years. This has spiked an outpour of congratulations from fans celebrities, and well-wishers.
