Sonko in Trouble as ODM Calls For Probe Over Remarks

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has called for an investigation into allegations by former Governor of Nairobi, Mike Sonko on the 2017 Post Election protests.

In a video, during a rally in Dagoretti South, Mike Sonko accused the ‘deep state’ and ‘system’ of repeated misaccusations against the hustler nation. He revealed that during the 2017 general election, PS Kibicho, deep state and him were involved in miscellaneous acts so as to paint ODM negatively.

“In 2017, during ODM demonstrations, Kibicho, the deep state and I printed ODM Party t-shirts and bought second-hand vehicles from showrooms which we burned in Ngong Road so that people would think it was ODM (supporters). Stop painting the Hustler Nation badly,” Sonko narrated.

The Secretary General of ODM, Edwin Sifuna has now called on the relevant government arms to take on the matter and investigate adding that as a party they are committed to civility in competition for power, the rule of law, and peaceful settlement of disputes and differences.

“The recent confession by the disgraced former Governor of Nairobi, Mike Sonko that he participated in stage managing violence and destruction of property that he and his co-conspirators then pinned on ODM, is welcome but amounts to too little too late,” ODM Secretary General Sifuna Said.

Sifuna has termed Sonko’s confessions as “nefarious schemes” that are slowly emerging from their dark hideouts. He has therefore called for relevant arms of the law to probe and bring the culprits to book.

“ODM demands a full inquiry into the matter so as to establish the motives and extent of these mafia-like covert criminal acts as well as all persons and institutions involved,” He added.
