The Kenyan State Department for Diaspora Affairs has issued an urgent advisory to its citizens in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel due to the escalating conflict between the two states. The government emphasized that the safety of Kenyans in the diaspora remains its top priority as the situation in the Middle East continues to develop.
Authorities advised Kenyan nationals in the two nations to exercise extreme vigilance, avoid non-essential movements, and closely monitor local and international media and security alerts. They were also urged to adhere to instructions from local authorities and ensure they have essential documents and emergency supplies readily available in case of evacuations.
For the Kenyan citizens in distress who need urgent assistance, the Kenyan government further directs them to contact its diplomatic missions in Tel Aviv (Israel) and Tehran (Iran). You can reach the embassy in Israel at +(972) 3 575 4633 or +972 54 691 4773, or email telaviv@mfa.go.ke.
Tensions in the Middle East
The advisory comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with the Kenyan government closely monitoring developments to provide further updates as necessary. Kenyans in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and maintain contact with the nearest embassy for guidance.
The conflict between Iran and Israel has entered its 5th day with neither of the two countries showing any signs of a ceasefire. Israel attacked Iran on the grounds of stopping it from developing a nuclear weapon. Iran, on the other hand, defended itself by sending hundreds of missiles to various targets in Tel Aviv.
America, a close friend of Israel, has threatened to join the war against Iran. President Trump, via a post on social media, asked the Iranian supreme leader to surrender unconditionally. In response, Ali Khamenei played down the warning threatening to strike any country that joins Israel in fighting them.
