The Ministry of Labour through the Department of Social Protection and Senior Citizens Affairs, through a notice in the mainstream media, has offered casual job opportunities in several counties. The exercise involves data collection where the casuals will be enumerators. The data collection exercise will proceed for 21 days.
The counties targeted are:
Uasin Gishu, Siaya, Embu, Kiambu, Nakuru, Nandi, Nairobi, Busia, Trans Nzoia, Kericho, Bomet, Nairobi and Nyeri.
The State Department of Labour was established following the reorganization of Government in May 2016. It is one of the two State Departments under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. The State Department has existed in various forms since its independence in 1963 under the then Ministry of East African Community, Labour and Social Service, before the reorganization of the Government in 2016.
The State Department for Labour contributes to the country’s development through:
- promotion of harmonious industrial relations; safety and health at workplace;
- employment promotion;
- industrial training;
- productivity management;
- planning for human resource development and utilization;
- registration and regulation of trade unions.
Qualifications
- At least a mean grade of C Plain or its equivalent in form four level of education
- Computer proficiency
- A candidate must be a resident of the location and be conversant with the local language. An exception to be given to urban centers considered metropolitan
- Candidates who are Community Health Volunteers and have held positions of leadership will have an added advantage
Remuneration
Successful candidates will be paid Kshs. 1,300 per day based on daily targets outlined in the appointment letter. The money is payable at the end of twenty-one days.
A transport allowance of Kshs. 1,000 per day will be provided to facilitate the data collection
Airtime will also be provided to enable the exercise to run smoothly.
