Edwin Sifuna today led the Linda Mwananchi rally in Kakamega, marking the second major gathering after the highly attended Kitengela meeting.
The event, held at Amalemba Grounds, drew thousands of enthusiastic supporters who turned up to listen to the growing opposition voice.
During his address, Sifuna announced that the movement would temporarily suspend further rallies until the end of Ramadan, a move he said was out of respect for the holy month.
The declaration was met with mixed reactions from supporters, many of whom have been energized by the recent wave of public engagements.
The Kakamega rally brought together several prominent leaders, including Babu Owino, Godfrey Osotsi, and James Orengo, alongside other elected and aspiring politicians.
Before arriving in Kakamega County, the team made a stopover in Mbale town, Vihiga County, where they greeted residents and rallied support.
Just as witnessed in Kitengela, tear gas was reportedly lobbed toward the gathering.
However, Sifuna and his allies stood their ground and declined to vacate the stage, insisting on proceeding with the rally despite the tense atmosphere.
In recent weeks, Sifuna has become one of the most talked-about political figures in the country.
His growing popularity, particularly among young voters, has sparked national debate about his political future.
Some supporters are openly urging him to consider a presidential bid instead of remaining in the Senate.
As the Linda Mwananchi movement gains momentum, political observers are closely watching its next steps once the Ramadan break concludes.
