Morara Kebaso, 29, is a lawyer who is going on a national tour inspecting the progress of uncompleted projects initiated by President William Ruto.
The determined young man is on a sojourn and has asked Kenyan well-wishers on X to support his cause. He has disclosed that his activities are not politically or financially motivated.
Funded By The People of Kenya
In a recent statement, Kebaso disclosed that he has received some good funding from ordinary citizens who are also eager to see the findings of his cause. The financial backing from the believers of his cause is crucial to his political efforts.
He was speaking on Citizen TV’s JK Live Show on Wednesday. He acknowledged Kenyans of goodwill who sent him cash on M-Pesa from across the globe. They assured him of solidarity and support of his commentary work, encouraging him to do more.
Public Sponsorship
Kebaso stressed the role of public sponsorship in his political activism. He said the money goes into logistics like fueling his vehicle and pay his research assistant.
He reassured his supporters that as long as there is continued funding, he will stay true to his principles and objectives. Kebaso is a sharp critic of the Kenya Kwanza government and President Ruto. His visits have opened up Pandora’s box and proved that most of President Ruto’s projects are either stalled or never began at all.
No Development Agenda
After days of side-by-side scrutiny of Ruto’s dead projects, State House spokesperson, Hussein Mohammed, has officially responded to lawyer and political activist Morara Kebaso. He rubbished his claims saying that some of the projects were launched by Uhuru Kenyatta and he was relaunching them after contractors could not deliver in time.
During his visit, Morara reported that most of the projects ‘launched’ by Ruto are white elephants. Despite their non-existence or stalled nature, they still gobbled up hundreds of millions of taxpayers’ money. The millions of Kenyan shillings went down the drain, most of it paid to the shadowy “contractors”.
“Abagusii leaders were busy simping and praising Ruto like a Lord. This is Metembe – Marani – Kegogi – Nyaore Road.”
“Launched in 2016 by Uhuru, Launched again juzi when Ruto came to Kisii. Those leaders should stop playing with our minds. Which development did the president bring to Kisii? Tell us!” Kebaso tweeted.
Amongst the projects Morara has visited include:
- Kabonyo Fisheries and Aquaculture project
- Kipkarren Water Treatment and Piping Project (near Eldoret Airport)
- Mago Malulu Road (outside Musalia Mudavadi’s rural residence)
- Malava Water Supply project
He claims went that at some point, he has been threatened and trailed by unknown cars bearing unidentified plates.
Morara Kebaso Arrested
Morara was arrested on September 30th at his office in Kahawa Sukari. He was whisked away to an unknown place in a Subaru car suspected to be DCI. His lawyer claims those who arrested him identified themselves as police officers but declined to state reasons for his arrest.
On Tuesday 1st October he was presented to Milimani law courts where he was to be charged. At the moment protesters had started occupying the Nairobi CBD demanding for his unconditional release.
