Willy Paul vs Diamond: Furaha City Festival Chaos Explained

Furaha City Festival in Nairobi, Kenya, was not happy for everyone. A fracas between teams belonging to Diamond Platnumz and Willy Paul ensured a sad ending for the Tanzanian artist.

The much-awaited event was just going well until 2 am when confusion on who was to perform next kicked in. According to the event planners, Willy Paul was supposed along with other Kenyan artists and leave the final stage to the Tanzanian artists like Rayvanny and Diamond Platnumz.

Willy Paul arrived at the same time and demanded to perform before Diamond. He was there already with his dancers and insisted the protocol be followed as agreed. This created a misunderstanding between him and Diamond’s management team led by SK Sallam.

Rayvanny, who was performing at that time tried to cool down the crowd. He led the crowd to chant Willy Paul’s name but later went back to performing when he realized the ongoing chants.

He later shouted Diamond Platnumz’s name to welcome him but was met with counter chants from the crowd asking for Willy Paul.

In the end, it was Willy Paul who managed to get to the stage to perform. As expected, he killed the show. With a 20-man dance crew, Will Paul proved once again why he is the best performer in Kenya and arguably one of the best in the world.

Furaha City Festival Response

Furaha City Festival, the event organizers released a statement hours later. In the statement, shared by Willis Raburu and seen by ONPoint News, the organizers accuse Diamond’s team of unprofessionalism.

“We respect Diamond Platnumz as a top-tier artist, but we also expect mutual professionalism and respect in such collaborations,” part of the statement read.

The organizers also acknowledged the performances of Kenyan artists. According to them, the host artists outdid themselves in producing remarkable performances. They also acknowledged Rayvanny and Zuchu for their performances.

Diamond Platnumz’s Response

Diamond, through his manager SK Sallam, has also responded. They have accused Willy Paul of being the mastermind behind the chaos. Sallam reported that Willy Paul tried to block Zuchu from re-entering the stage since she had already performed.

However, Sallam refused to reveal the main reason Diamond didn’t perform. He claimed that it was between them and the event organizers.

He also urged Kenyan artists to work harder and leave clout as a form of chasing fame.
