Although COVID-19 treatments have improved and a vaccine looks promising, even a mild case of the virus can cause long-term complications — including the possibility of erectile dysfunction. This is according to Dr Dena Grayson.
With the pandemic crushing almost everything all across the world for months now, the doctor told NBC’s Chicago affiliate the coronavirus has also left some male patients short on their ability to rise to the occasion in the bedroom.
Erectile dysfunction is the inability to get or maintain an erection firm enough to have sexual intercourse. Sometimes it’s referred to as impotence, although this term is now used less often.
“People can have long term health effects from this virus. Neurologic complications, and now, for men who are watching this — there is some real concern here that men could have long term issues of erectile dysfunction from this virus. This is because we know that it causes issues in the vasculature,” said Dr Dena Grayson
Dr Grayson warns that “this is something that is of real concern,” adding that the illness can have “long term, life long, potentially, complications.”
