In her heydays, Angela Angwenyi was a renowned radio host on Kenyan airwaves. The queen of radio had a mellow yet commanding voice that kept listeners glued throughout the mid-morning show.
After ruling the airwaves for many years, she joined a leading PR firm as a manager and worked as a publicist for Nigeria’s D’Banj and Chocolate City labels.
Her Financial Troubles
In 2019, Angela Angwenyi was on the verge of losing her house in Jacaranda Gardens, when it was put up for auction.
The saga started earlier on when her company, Out of The Box Solutions, was implicated in the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.
The company was awarded a contract worth KSh 302 million, in the multi-billion NYS scandal. They were contracted to publicize and enhance access to the 30% of government tenders reserved for women, youth, and people living with disabilities.
Appearing before the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) she revealed that Out of the Box Solutions LTD had only been paid KSh90.7 million. The Ministry of Devolution had awarded her for a one-year publicity campaign.
Her Housing Finance account was frozen for 90 days following an application by the Asset Recovery Agency (ARA).
