December is already upon us and that means endless merry-making and performances from your favorite artists. The quarterly Blankets & Wine Festival December 2024 Edition lineup is out and it’s an all-Kenyan affair.
The summer edition set for December 22nd, will be a celebration of food, music, culture, and local artistry. Dubbed “Fully Kenyan”, this year’s edition promises a memorable experience and will focus solely on the country’s rich talent.
The Stellar Line Up
Blankets and Wine have always shined a light on Kenya’s most iconic artists, and also given an equal platform to up-and-coming acts. It is known to bring together traditional sounds with modern influences.
This year is no different. Nyashinski will be the main attraction and will bring all the glitz and glam. His signature mix of singing and rap over diverse beats is what fans should look forward to.
Wakadinali, the dynamic Eastlands rap trio, whose hard-hitting sound and controversial lyrics, have earned them a name in the game, will be a show-stopper.
Necessary Noize, an iconic reggae duo of Wyre and Nazizi, has always brought the nostalgia effect with their timeless hits. They have a legion of fans across East Africa who’ll convene to see the party. Their performances are always energetic and will turn up the festival a notch higher.
The Festival’s New Acts
Njerae is not a new name in the Nairobi scene but she’s not a mainstream artist. She’s an exceptional vocalist who does neo-soul and Afro-jazz with great numbers on streaming platforms. Her addition will be a great spice to the event.
Watendawili duo, formerly from Sol-generation’s Kaskazini trio, will blow up the scene with their well-written and performed singles. Their seamless fusion of Afrobeat, rhumba, and hip-hop will be a show-stopper.
Coaster Ojwang and Idd Aziz have been on a meteoric rise for many years now. They will be a highlight of the day with their folk fusion of traditional East African coastal rhythms and house/amapiano laced with Kenyan urban beats respectively. Their contemporary music centers around everyday themes of life but with a universal appeal.
The DJs On Set
DJs will keep the energy high during the much-awaited festival. DJ IV, Akoth Jumadi, Shinsky, Dylan X, Vidza, and MGM will be spinning, offering a different kind of immersive experience.
The festival has always featured art vendors and the Onja Onja Market will cater to that. There will be stalls where revelers will splurge and explore Kenyan products and brands. The Blankets and Wine December experience is the best way to experience the Kenyan music scene and you don’t want to miss the moment.
