Kasmuel McOure Speech at Bomas Lands Him in Trouble

Yesterday, Kenyans gathered at the Bomas of Kenya for public participation in Deputy President Gachagua’s impeachment motion.

As the address went underway, Morara Kebaso was attacked and forced out after his chance to address the crowd came.

Morara, a youth activist and a critic of President William Ruto, was violently booted out of the Bomas. The vicious attack came from an angry mob, who termed him as a sell-out and a decoy.

Kasmuel’s Moral Values Questioned

When Kasmuel was offered the mic to provide his views on the Gachagua, instead of first addressing the uncivilized attack and condemning the goons, Kasmuel did not express any sympathy towards the activist but went straight to the day’s politics.

He did not denounce the violence meted out to Morara. This did not sit well with Kenyans on social media. They blasted him for his seeming inclination towards the government and turning a blind eye to justice. They have accused him of being in bed with the government. Additionally, he was slammed for being out of touch with the disenfranchised (Gen Z) he said to represent.

His Stand On Ruto Also Questioned

Kasmuel went lyrical on his reasons for Gachagua’s ouster but did not once mention President Ruto. Notably, Kasmuel rose to fame by aggressively calling for the president to leave office following the Gen Z protesters’ death.

Ruaraka MP, TJ Kajwang was seen standing behind him, as if backing him up. Dagoretti South MP, John Kiarie, is also seen smiling, clapping, and nodding at Kasmuel’s propositions.

Soon after the video made rounds online, Kenyans called out the activist on X and other social media platforms. They called him a sellout for failing to articulate things that matter most to the common mwananchi.

Meet UP MP Osorio

On Wednesday, September 18th, there were photos of McOure and MP Silvanus Osoro interacting at the United Kenya Club Hotel. The pictures attracted mixed reactions. Most Kenyans claim that the self-appointed activist is in bed with the same government he purports to critic.

This forced him to issue a public statement. In his argument, he claimed that his frequent visit to the United Kenya Club hotel where he coincidentally met the MP.

McOure said he used the opportunity to demand better from the government.

“I go to that members’ club often and meet plenty of Kenyans there. The Majority Whip of Parliament is one of the many members. It was my first time meeting him, and I took the opportunity to say to his face what I’ve always said online: Their government has failed us in fundamental ways. Extrajudicial killings, false promises on service delivery, and a blatant disregard for the rule of law,” McOure wrote on X.

Game Plan

McOure came to the public limelight during the Finance Bill’s advocacy and rejection, which led to countrywide protests. He has been vocal about social issues affecting the youth. He gained media attention for his involvement in the Gen Z protests.

McOure has always stated that he should not only be reduced to protests and opposition. He noted that he is deeply passionate about young leadership and giving a voice to underprivileged youth.

McOure promises to continue with his door-to-door civic education campaign, despite his critics toning him down. He says that’s the only card he has to seize political leverage and power.
