Popular YouTube content creator, Miss Trudy, has spoken out about his marriage to Wode Maya. Wode, a Ghanaian content creator, is currently the number-one YouTuber in Africa.
The two got married in 2022 after knowing each other for a short while. Rumors of their love life and the state of their marriage, began after Miss Trudy did a podcast interview where she opened up about her marriage life in detail.
The interview on YouTube sparked widespread rumors both in Ghana and Kenya with claims of a divorce after two years of marriage. The speculation is what forced Miss Trudy to clear the air stating that, she is in her marriage “death do us part.”
“We Don’t Spend Time Together”
During the interview, she is seen fighting emotions as tries to answer questions as honestly as possible. The mixed reactions led to misunderstandings among viewers who felt that she was still masking the real issues.
Trudy shared that they do not spend plenty of time together, as they did back then, because their jobs are demanding. She admitted that their busy schedules make them travel frequently and have therefore been a barrier. Although they’re a couple, the two content creators, each have their brands that they cannot sabotage.
Culture Shock
One of the main challenges, according to her, has been the culture shock she experienced in Ghana. Being in a new country which is very different in terms of culture, food climate and almost everything, did set her back. The Kenyan YouTuber has been struggling with mental health for a while and is still adjusting to her new life in the West African country.
Loneliness and Depression
Moving from Nairobi to Ghana did change her life and she says she’s still trying to cope. The mother of one acknowledged that her life is not all put together as it seems. Her difficulties also include feelings of loneliness and depression.
“Maya Is Not An Evil Person”
Following the controversial interview, Wode Maya became the subject of online trolls. Many netizens felt that Wode was being a narcissist and giving Miss Trudy a bare minimum.
A particular incident where he had abandoned her in Miami, was highlighted by the netizens. They claimed that he spent lavishly on his sister’s wedding compared to Miss Trudy’s.
In the video, Miss Trudy expressed her utmost distress over the ignorant responses. She came out guns blazing defending Wode against the hearsays. Miss Trudy made a heartfelt plea to her followers to stop attacking Wode Maya. She shared how deeply she hurts every time he is criticized and emphasized that he has a kind heart even in real life.
“I know you really care for me, but you guys got it all wrong. Maya is not an evil person. We are both dealing with a lot and we are trying to handle it the best way we know how,” she said.
Till Death Do Us Part
Miss Trudy made it crystal clear that she’s not dissolving her marriage to Wode Maya under any circumstances. She stated that neither of them was coerced into marriage and they desire to grow old together. The petite content creator praised his husband for being supportive, loving, and caring. She expressed her gratitude for having him, something that changed her life for good.
“Maya isn’t perfect and so am I. We are two different people from different cultures and we are learning from our mistakes. When I say I am unhappy, there are so many things that happen in life. It doesn’t mean Maya is the cause of my unhappiness. When I met him, I was so lost, then he showed me how to make money and create content. I wouldn’t be here today if not for him. Maya is my best friend, my bae” she said.
