Okiya Omtatah Denies Selling Out Kibet Bull to Abductors

Activist and Busia senator Okiya Omtatah has distanced himself from rumors linking him with Kibet Bull’s abduction.

Gideon Kibet popularly known on X as Kibet Bull was the man behind trending silhouettes of President William Ruto and other Kenyan politicians.

His images had made him popular among most Kenyans on X with hundreds of followers and sharing for them.

He was reported missing on Tuesday 24th December. Rumors of him going missing started after his friend tried to reach him without success.

He had met the Busia senator earlier on the same day.

Political activist Hannifa Adan also revealed that Kibet’s brother was also missing. She had called the sister who confirmed that Kibet Bull had been unreachable for more than 24 hours since he was last online.

Some Kenyans on X started linking the 2027 presidential hopeful, Omtatah with the disappearance. They questioned why he only went missing after meeting the senator.

X influencers Francis Gaitho and Cyprian Nyakundi were among the first people to raise their concerns.

“@OkiyaOmtatah is now selling out young activists to the regime. I warned you to take care of these sell-outs. They’re all over,” Gaitho wrote while reacting to a screenshot of Kibet’s status where he has met Okiya.

Okiya Omtatah Defence

In his defense, Omtatah rubbished the rumors as false and unfounded.

“These allegations are false, baseless, and frankly, quite imaginative. It seems I’ve suddenly been cast as the villain in someone’s fiction,” he wrote in response.

To clarify, he added that he has spent all his life standing up for justice and the rule of law and he would never be a sellout to the young activists.

He acknowledged having met Kibet as said but added that it was only in good faith.

The Busia senator has urged his enemies from peddling falsehoods that are only meant to distract.

“Let us remain united in the fight for the rule of law, good governance & justice and demand accountability where it truly belongs,” Omtatah said.
