Ronaldo Breaks Another Instagram Record Again

Portuguese and All Nasser star Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a tremendous milestone after becoming the most followed person on Instagram with 631 million followers.

The second most-followed person is a fellow football star and rival, Lionel Messi with 503 million followers. American singer and actress Ariana Grande is third with 397 million followers same as actor and former WWE wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

In 2020, Cristiano also reached the feat of having the most-liked photo on Instagram with his post on Argentine legend Diego Armando Maradona, following his death, receiving 19.7 million likes!

However, in 2022, Messi took over from him with his World Cup photo garnering a staggering 75 million likes as of May 2024. This record was held by The Egg photo which has more than 60.1 million as of May 2024.

How much money does Ronaldo make on Instagram?

According to Forbes, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star earns nearly US$1 million per sponsored post on Instagram.

Ronaldo has now more followers on Instagram than the whole of 20 Premier League combined at 159 million as combined by the Football page ESPN!

The 35-year-old soccer star also enjoys a huge fan following on his other social media platforms too. He is the most followed person on Facebook and the most followed athlete on Twitter with 170 million and 111 million respectively.

His longtime biggest football rival, Lionel Messi, is ranked 2nd among sportspersons with 174 million followers.

The only account with more followers than Ronaldo on Instagram is Instagram’s official account, which has 382 million followers (this was in 2022). We are in 2025 and the story is different. As Ronaldo always says, he doesn’t chase records but records chase him.

At 39, Ronaldo is still playing at the top and we can only expect more records.
