Kenyan artist Bahati, real name Kevin Bahati, has a new reality show on Netflix. He and his YouTuber wife, Diana Bahati, alias Diana B, and their family will keep us entertained by their day-to-day lives as social media sensations.
The new TV show, which premieres today, will be the first by a Kenyan on the movie-streaming giant Netflix. This is another first as they were the first Kenyan couple with a reality show on Kenyan TV “Being Bahati.”
“It’s official! The first Kenyan /East African reality show on Netflix is #thebahatisempire, which premiers on Friday, June 7, 2024… Oh Yes, I know you all had missed us on TV,” Bahati shared.
The event was attended by who is who in the political and showbiz circles. It was launched at the Westwood Hotel, Nairobi.
Among the VIPs were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Senator Karen Nyamu accompanied by MP Lang’ata Phelix Odiwuor (Jalang’o), Terrence Creative, his wife Chebby, and Rev Lucy Natasha.
The Deputy President was impressed by Bahati’s grass-to-grace testimony. He acknowledged his deprived childhood to international stardom as an artist and now a reality TV star.
He took a shot at creatives to be considerate of the kind of content they put out emphasizing the importance of good values. Gachagua who is known to be on the forefront of fighting alcohol, urged them to shun away from drugs and invest wisely.
He encouraged other artists to follow suit and put Kenya on the global scene. “While Diana and Bahati have pioneered this reality show, we look forward to more artists conquering the globe for Kenya to have a bite of the multibillion-dollar creative industry,” DP Gachagua added.
Karen Nyamu & Prezzo at Bahatis New Reality Show
Nominated Senator, Karen Nyamu, stole the spotlight when she gracefully danced with DP Gachagua. When she was invited on stage to dance, she went off stage to seek out Gachagua’s hand, as the hosts, the Bahatis, joined them.
In a rather unfortunate incident at the launch, rapper Prezzo who was among the VIPs, suffered a seizure. The event took a dramatic turn as others rushed to offer first aid assistance. This incident occurred just as the event was hitting climax and almost overshadowed the entire launch. Prezzo’s management is yet to release an official statement on the diagnosis and prognosis.
The Bahatis Acknowledgment Speech
Bahati opened his speech with a word for his family and friends, media industry, and fellow industry colleagues for their endless support. He paid a special tribute to his wife, Diana Marua, for always steering him in the path of success. She is the executive producer for The Bahati’s Empire. She is also the most subscribed female on YouTube in Kenya.
