Kenyan Striker Olunga Moves to Qatar

Kenyan International Michael Olunga has joined Qatar side Al Duhail SC from Kashiwa Reysol. An official announcement is expected soon from the club, according to QSL_newss (Qatar Stars League).

From trusted sources, Kashiwa Raysol has accepted a 7 million Euros bid, approximately Ksh 940 million from Al-Duhali SC For Olunga.

Al Duhali SC is offering Olunga a favorable condition in terms of annual salary, and he is most likely to play in Qatar Sports League next season.

The former Gor Mahia striker will join Al Duhali a few months after the former Juventus and Croatian Mario Mandzukic left the club after playing for a month.

Olunga was named J1-League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for 2019/2020 season. He also won the Golden Boot after scoring 28 goals in 32 games for Kashiwa Reysol.

Engineer

Michael “Engineer” Olunga’s football career continues to shine day after day. After starting his football career with Liberty Sports Academy, Olunga was taken by Kenya Premier League’s Tusker FC before moving to Thika and later Gor Mahia football club. 

At Gor Mahia, he scored 15 goals helping Gor win its 15th league title. He also finished as the league’s top scorer that year. 

On 17 February 2016, Olunga joined Swedish club Djurgårdens IF on a 4-year contract after an impressive pre-season training camp with the club.

A year later, In 2017, Olunga joined Chinese club Guizhou Zhicheng and later the same year loaned to La Liga side Girona for one year. On 13 January 2018, he made his La Liga debut against Las Palmas Football Club scoring a hat-trick in the span of 22 minutes during a 6–0 win, becoming both the first Girona player and the first Kenyan player to score a hat-trick in La Liga.

On 10 August 2018, Olunga joined the Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol where he is currently playing.
